Description
In Shoog McDaniel’s Boulders, the monumental rock formations of the American Southwest peacefully coexist with the round and bulging bodies of the models. The natural landscape is a space for persons of all shapes and sizes. It does not judge you. The diverse forms that its beauty takes – masses of color, texture, folds, and rolls – are the diverse forms of your beauty. Themes of nature worship and fat liberation pervade McDaniel’s work. “I've come to believe it and I feel like the work that I do is about telling the stories of people who are marginalized and not usually put on the forefront, and whose lives are beautiful and important.”
